Jakarta International Stadium to Be Launched in July: Governor

TheIndonesia.id - Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan has confirmed that the grand launching of brand new Jakarta International Stadium, or JIS, will take place in July, after a June launching plan was scrapped.

Baswedan said the grand launching will be part of a series of events organized by Jakarta provincial government to celebrate the anniversary of Jakarta on June 22.

“The grand launching of JIS is peak of Jakarta anniversary celebrations, so there will be many events, including the launching itself which will be held around July,” he said on Thursday, June 23, as reported by Antara.

While the governor hadn’t revealed the date, he said members of the public will be able to attend the launching event.

Jakarta government previously kicked off the Jakarta anniversary celebrations on Wednesday, and the launching of JIS was supposed to take place as the Jakarta Hajatan event draws to a close on Saturday, June 25.

However, JIS developer PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) decided to postpone the stadium’s launching to July, but its president director Widi Amanasto didn’t mention the reason behind the postponement.
