TheIndonesia.id - German automotive giant Mercedes-Benz is set to produce Axor  trucks in Indonesia from April 2022. The vehicle, which has complied with Euro 4 emission standard, will be manufactured in factory in Wanaherang, Bogor, West Java province.

PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Manufacturing Indonesia (DCVMI) as the sole entity that oversees the distribution of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles, has appointed PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia (DCVI) to produce the Axor trucks starting next year.

President director of DCVI Jung Woo Park said the two companies are committed to support Indonesian government’s plan to implement the Euro 4 emission standard for diesel vehicles. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources previously said that the eco-friendly policy will be applicable in April 2022.

“To support the government, we’re committed to the transition process through improvement to our products. We’re also pleased to start the new chapter of a more environmentally-friendly Indonesia by creating selective catalytic reduction (SCR) dan Adblue technologies,” Park said in a statement on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.

He revealed that Mercedes-Benz Euro 4 Axor has a combination of technologies that is unique for Indonesia as the trucks are equipped with engines that have been proven to provide optimal performance with the fuel in Indonesia. Meanwhile, SCR technology will reduce emission after process in combustion chamber.

“Therefore, we can enjoy the best condition and performance during operation. Also, we extend the interval for maintenance to 50,000 km for Euro 4 trucks by adding a system that will keep the engine oil clean,” Park added.

DCVI also made several exterior and interior adjustments to the Mercedes-Benz Axor series as well as a number of technical updates to three Axor variants: Mercedes-Benz Axor 2528R/5700, 2523R/4500 dan 2523R/5700.

The new Axor’s gross vehicle weight rating increases to 26,500 kg from 25,000 kg.  Capacity of front and rear axles also increases from 6,000-19,000 kg to 6,500-20,000 kg.

The new trucks use 11.00-20 bias tires, which is in accordance with market requirement on tire capacity as it’s also more cost-efficient.
